We are proud to support your facility and employees with services and opportunities in addition to our surgical instrumentation. We partner with Haymarket Medical Education to provide a free CE course, titled “Proper Care, Handling, and Processing of Rigid Oral Endoscopes, Related Components, and Instruments.” The course offers CE credit for healthcare professionals involved in the handling and care of surgical instruments—please see details below.*
This educational program presents an overview of rigid operating laryngoscopes, which are critical in accessing the anatomical structures in the larynx for both diagnosis and treatment. Features of laryngoscopes that are designed to provide surgeons with the desired access for every procedure are emphasized. In addition, details are offered to help staff in the operating room or sterile processing department identify each laryngoscope based on shape and design. The goal is to improve organization and efficiency by enhancing the proficiency of healthcare professionals in laryngoscope basics and identification.
The appropriate protocols for handling, transporting, testing, and storing of rigid oral endoscopes, including laryngoscopes, bronchoscopes, and esophagoscopes, as well as light carriers and fiber-optic light cables, before, during, and following surgery would not be possible without the dedication of the Sterile Processing Department personnel, perioperative nurses, and surgical technologists and assistants. These individuals are integral members of the surgical team; without their care and oversight of the instruments, no procedure would be successful. This CE activity will outline best practices for safe and effective inspection, processing and handling of rigid oral endoscopes, the MDM instructions for use and guideline recommendations to ensure the instruments are patient ready.
